Tim Allen's comedic life on stage and in film and TV

To millions, he'll always be known as Tim "The Toolman" Taylor. But there are many other faces to actor and comedian Tim Allen. While the hit TV sitcom 'Home Improvement' certainly cemented his reputation as one of America's favorite funny guys, Allen also delivered an equally famous role as Santa Claus in a series of well-received Christmas-themed movies, and is celebrated as the voice of Buzz Lightyear in the hugely successful 'Toy Story' franchise. But it hasn't always been smiles and laughter. An infamous brush with the law early in his career saw Allen entertain jail time, and his big-screen appearances haven't always been met with chuckles and cheer. A master of stand-up, however, he remains one of the kings of comedy, and after some 45 years in the industry he is still making us laugh. So, what's so amusing about Tim Allen? Click through and applaud one of the best comics in show business.

Actors who hated their iconic on-screen costumes

Part of the magic of being an actor is completely disappearing into a role. Sometimes, however, that magic act relies heavily on a physical transformation as opposed to merely adopting new behaviorisms. Physical transformations like getting buff can have the added bonus of, well, being buff, but costumes are where things get a little annoying. And by "a little," we mean a lot. From having to sit through eight torturous hours' worth of makeup, to sweating dangerous amounts inside full-body suits during long shoot days, many actors' most iconic roles also feature the costumes they hated most. Click through to see which costumes actors hated the most, and why exactly they were so tormented by them.

David Harbour breaks silence on Millie Bobby Brown rift

David Harbour has broken his silence on rumours that there was tension between him and his ‘Stranger Things’ co-star Millie Bobby Brown, as well as his recent split from ex-wife Lily Allen. The rumors of a rift between the father-and-daughter duo came after reports surfaced that Brown had filed a harassment and bullying complaint against him before filming the show's final season. In an interview with Variety, Harbour described the situation with Brown as “a weird thing” that “came out in a weird way.” He noted that they’ve worked together for a decade, saying, “You occasionally get in arguments, disagreements.” However, Harbour dismissed suggestions of a long-term rift, adding: “There is a special bond there. I love her. She loves me.” Brown echoed Harbour’s sentiment, telling Variety, “Even though the series has ended, there’s still a lot of gratitude.” Addressing his split from Allen and her breakup album, ‘West End Girl,’ Harbour said it is "the privilege of every artist to use their experience to create art, and so I respect her for doing that." He declined to comment further on the details of the divorce. "It’s my private life," he noted. "In spite of the fact that a lot of people don’t allow me a private life—I value it." On the controversial album, Allen reflects on a troubled relationship, with songs discussing topics like an open marriage request and alleged gaslighting.

Where are the ‘Two and a Half Men’ cast now?

It’s been more than a decade since ‘Two and a Half Men’ wrapped up after a 12-season run on CBS, having become one of TV’s biggest sitcoms of all time. But what have the stars been doing since leaving Malibu behind? Charlie Sheen played Charlie Harper, the hard-partying jingle writer whose life was turned upside down when his brother moved in. After leaving the show in 2011 following a public fallout, Sheen went on to star in ‘Anger Management,’ which ran for three seasons. He later made a guest appearance on ‘Bookie,’ reuniting with creator Chuck Lorre, and in 2025, was the subject of the Netflix documentary ‘aka Charlie Sheen.’ Jon Cryer played Alan Harper, Charlie’s neurotic and financially struggling brother. Well known for ‘Pretty in Pink’ before joining the sitcom, Cryer was the only main cast member to stay throughout all 12 seasons and won two Emmy Awards for his performances. After the series ended, he appeared as Lex Luthor across multiple CW shows in the Arrowverse and later returned to sitcoms in 2023 with ‘Extended Family.’ Angus T Jones played Jake Harper, Alan’s laid-back son. One of TV’s highest-paid child actors at the time, he later spoke out against the show’s morals and stepped away from the series in 2014. He has only had a handful of credits since, including ‘Horace and Pete’ and ‘Bookie,’ in which he briefly reunited with Sheen and Chuck Lorre. Holland Taylor played Evelyn Harper, Charlie and Alan’s sharp-tongued mother. An established television veteran, she had already earned an Emmy earlier in her career for ‘The Practice.’ After ‘Two and a Half Men’ wrapped, she continued with steady TV work in series like ‘The Morning Show’ and ‘Billions’ while also writing and performing her one-woman show ‘Ann.’

He was dead for two minutes - and then wrote a hit song about it

Kickstart My Heart sounds like a reckless celebration of speed, danger, and rebellion, but its origins trace back to one of the darkest moments in Mötley Crüe’s history. This video explores how Nikki Sixx’s near-fatal overdose in 1987 became the unlikely spark for one of the band’s most iconic songs. We look at the culture of excess that defined rock music in the 1980s and how Dr. Feelgood marked a turning point for a band on the brink of collapse. What emerged wasn’t just a hit song, but proof that Mötley Crüe could survive, evolve, and still sound just as dangerous.

Movies & TV shows you forgot Donald Trump had a cameo in

Before he entered politics, President Donald Trump was a familiar face in pop culture, making appearances in a surprising number of movies and TV shows throughout the 1990s and early 2000s. Perhaps his most memorable cameo came in the Christmas classic ‘Home Alone 2: Lost in New York.’ In the movie, Kevin McCallister, played by Macaulay Culkin, finds himself inside New York's Plaza Hotel, which Trump owned at the time. After getting lost, Kevin asks Trump for directions to the lobby, leading to one of the movie's most iconic scenes. Trump also made a brief appearance in the hit HBO series ‘Sex and the City.’ In a season two episode, he plays himself having drinks with a business associate. After Trump leaves, his friend uses their connection to strike up a conversation with Samantha, played by Kim Cattrall. One of Trump's longer television appearances came in ‘The Fresh Prince of Bel-Air.’ In the episode titled ‘For Sale by Owner,’ he arrives at the Banks family home hoping to buy it. When the family believes he is offering $1 million over market value, they begin imagining what the extra money could do for their future in a brief but memorable two-minute scene, before he ultimately walks away after realising he has the wrong address. Surprisingly, Trump was also one of several celebrity cameos in Ben Stiller's 2001 comedy ‘Zoolander.’ Appearing alongside Melania Trump during a red carpet segment, he jokingly tells a reporter that without Derek Zoolander, male modeling would not be what it is today. He even appeared in the 1994 family comedy ‘The Little Rascals,’ playing the father of Waldo. Before a go-kart race begins, Waldo calls his dad, promising to get the win, prompting Trump to deliver the memorable line, "You're the best son money can buy."
