Adele has posted several bizarre photos ahead of her upcoming shows in Germany – and some fans are not pleased.

The Hello singer, 36, posted a series of images to her Instagram story on July 8 that depict her wearing a traditional German dirndl and holding a soft pretzel, beer, and cheese.

She’s tagged the location of the photos as Munich, Germany and one is captioned ‘Not long now…Pack ma’s!’

The posts are clearly meant to promote the 10 shows she’s preparing to play in Munich between August 2 and 31 in a brand new bespoke space created just for the special dates.

Adele’s face is undeniably her, but the blurred, uncanny nature of the surrounding photos have led many to believe they were achieved with a generative AI tool or very intensive photoshop.

One of the pictures is visibly flawed, with a closer look at the singer’s hand revealing that there’s no fingernail on her thumb, and the edge of her dress appears to be lettuce.

Small details like the latticing of the pretzels she’s holding also reveal the pictures as phonies, so obviously that its very likely that Adele meant the photos as a joke.

Still, many fans are disappointed in her use of AI at all, arguing that the rise of AI art negatively impacts artists.

A Reddit thread discussing the pictures was generally negative, with Technical_Ad_4894 writing: ‘What was stopping her from just buying a dirndl and beer and forgoing the freaky ai mess altogether?’

TopAirport4121 agreed: ‘Absolutely this. There was a time when what you mentioned with a quick but fun photoshoot with a real pretzel would’ve been the way to promote this. But that takes more money and effort so we get this garbage instead. I hate this timeline so much.’

ClassicalSpectacle agreed, writing: ‘I wish there was more mass rejection of this generative AI from artists. I don’t get how Adele thinks it’s not coming for her artistic output and livelihood. Too many complacent artists thinking it’s just a fun and harmless toy.’

Ok_Yogurtcloset8915 agreed, pointing out that while AI may seem harmless for an artist as massive as Adele, many smaller creators will eventually be affected: ‘ Because realistically it’s not coming for her livelihood. we’ll always have stars and live music, because we like stars and live music.

‘AI will chip away at the jobs that sustain the bottom and middle layers, like songwriting for hire and session playing and background vocals and beats and ad jingles and so on. We’re not close to AI popstars charting or touring, so anyone like Adele is safe.’
