A smalltown family empire built up over many years is in danger of being washed away in the Netflix drama The Waterfront.

Set in coastal North Carolina, The Waterfront is inspired by Williamson’s own life growing up and is as much about family dynamics as the lengths people will go to when their legacy is on the line.
For decades, the Buckley family has ruled the town of Havenport in North Carolina.
They have dominated everything from the local fishing industry to the town’s restaurant scene.
Melissa Benoist is Bree Buckley, the hot-tempered Buckley daughter who formerly oversaw the fishery’s finances before her demons got the better of her.
The actress, 36, rose to fame in the musical comedy-drama series Glee. She has played Kara Danvers/ Supergirl in the television series of the same name and its spin-offs. And she starred as Sadie McCarthy in The Girls on the Bus.
Her film roles include Nicole in Whiplash, Marcia in The Longest Ride and Katherine Russell in Patriots Day.
