JENNIFER LOVE HEWITT ADDRESSES CO-STAR FEUD CLAIMS

Jennifer Love Hewitt has opened up on where she stands with Sarah Michelle Gellar now, following intense claims of a feud.

Two days after the red carpet premiere of the I Know What You Did Last Summer revival on July 14, eagle-eyed fans noted the absence of any photos featuring the pair together, despite both being central to the franchise.

The apparent snub sparked a wave of social media speculation, with users questioning whether the original scream queens had fallen out.

Addressing the speculation once and for all in a new interview, Jennifer said that she hasn’t spoken to her former co-star since she was 18.

‘I honestly don’t even know what that was or how that all came to be,’ the 46-year-old told Vulture of the scrutiny.

‘I just think people don’t want the narrative to be easy. Why do we always have to be against each other and out for each other?’

When asked if she had spoken to the 48-year-old about the speculation, she simply replied: ‘I haven’t seen Sarah.

‘Literally, we’ve not talked since I saw her at 18 years old when the first movie came out. That’s why it’s so funny to me. People were like, “Say something back.” And I’m like, “What am I going to say? I’ve not seen her.”

‘On my side, we’re good. I have no idea where this is coming from.’

Claims of a rift resurfaced ahead of the release of I Know What You Did Last Summer, which is in cinemas now, when the former castmates failed to pose together at the premiere – a move that raised eyebrows on social media.

X user @britneyvinyl wrote: ‘I’m so sad Jennifer Love Hewitt, Sarah Michelle Gellar & Freddie Prinze Jr. did not take a photo together at the ‘I KNOW WHAT YOU DID LAST SUMMER’ (2025) world premiere. What happened there?!’

@itsjordanapps posted: ‘Sarah Michelle Gellar and Jennifer Love Hewitt not posing together at the IKWYDLS premiere… we need to open an investigation’

@mich_dev chimed in: ‘I’m unreasonably mad that Freddie Prinze Jr. and Sarah Michelle Gellar didn’t take a picture with Jennifer Love Hewitt on the red carpet of the I Know What You Did Last Summer premiere.’

But according to Sarah, there’s no mystery and definitely no feud.

‘For everyone asking — I never got to see @jenniferlovehewitt, who is fantastic in the movie,’ Gellar wrote on July 16 in response to comments on her Instagram post recapping the premiere.

‘I was inside with my kids when the big carpet happened. And unfortunately JLH didn’t come to the after party.’

Sarah, who shares two children with her husband and original I Know What You Did Last Summer co-star Freddie Prinze Jr, added that the chaotic nature of red carpet events meant she missed the chance to snap photos with much of the cast.

‘If you have ever been to one of these it’s crazy,’ she wrote.

‘I sadly didn’t get pics with most of the cast. But that doesn’t change how amazing I think they all are. Unfortunately, some things happen only in real life and not online.’

The new film sees Jennifer and Freddie reprise their iconic roles as Julie James and Ray Bronson, alongside Madelyn Cline, Chase Sui Wonders, Sarah Pidgeon, Jonah Hauer-King, and Tyriq Withers – face off against the infamous hook-wielding killer.

This isn’t the first time the stars have had to shut down speculation about their relationship.

Back in December, Jennifer addressed longstanding rumors that she had Sarah’s character written out of the franchise.

‘I was 18. They were not taking script notes from me,’ she joked during an episode of the I’ve Never Said This Before podcast.

‘All of us were in that experience together, figuring it all out and everything. And I root for her and Freddie.’

She added: ‘I think it’s the cutest thing in the world that they’ve been married for 100 years and have kids. It’s adorable.’

So, despite the photo gap on premiere night, both stars have made it clear: there’s no bad blood, just a case of bad timing.
