Sabrina Carpenter is finally addressing the drama surrounding her split from Irish actor Barry Keoghan—and in true Sabrina fashion, she’s keeping it breezy.
The pair, who first sparked romance rumors back in December 2023 before making their red carpet debut at the 2024 Met Gala, called it quits last December after a year.
Their breakup made plenty of headlines, not least because Barry found himself on the receiving end of some fiery online trolling.
At the time, the Saltburn star even issued a statement, writing: ‘I can only sit and take so much… too many lines are being crossed.’
Fast forward to this week, and Sabrina is setting the record straight during a chat with Gayle King on CBS to promote her new album.
When asked if she felt bad about the backlash her ex faced, the Manchild singer gave a characteristically cheeky response.
‘I feel pretty transparent going into any of my relationships that I write songs…’ she laughed. ‘Most of the time they’re actually flattered when they get a song—good or bad. I think they’re just excited to get a shoutout.’
As for whether she’ll ever admit which track is about which ex? Don’t hold your breath.
‘I just wouldn’t say,’ she teased. ‘It’s more fun to let people picture who they want.’
Sabrina also brushed off any notion that heartbreak will slow her down romantically, adding: ‘I’m not scared of men in that sense… I think I’ll attract exactly who I’m supposed to attract.’
While sources close to the former couple insist the split was simply down to being in ‘different places in their lives,’ it looks like Sabrina’s not losing any sleep over it. Instead, she’s turning her real-life drama into chart-topping tracks.
