George Clooney has revealed that he still gets teased by Brad Pitt over an iconic role he lost to his fellow movie star decades ago.
The two stars are among the most iconic in Hollywood and occasionally shared the screen throughout their storied careers.
However, back in the 1990s, the duo were both competing for the same role to catapult their reputation to the next level.
George was recently interviewed by The Times of London for a profile piece and revealed that he nearly got the role that gave Brad an early career boost.
He explained: ‘So, I was in TV. I was making a good living, but back then actors would say, “Well, I’m a film actor – I just happen to be doing TV”.
‘I got to the final test for a role in Thelma & Louise. And, mother****er, Brad got it.’
Brad got the part of JD in the 1991 film that also starred Geena Davis and Susan Sarandon.
George continued: ‘I didn’t watch Thelma & Louise for years because I was annoyed. The part launched his career in film.
‘He was doing sitcoms and crap before, so when it was the thing that could’ve launched me? F***!’
It apparently hasn’t gotten any easier over time for George as Brad still teases him about the ordeal to this day.
He added: ‘Oh yeah, he gives me s***. But, of course, when I saw it, I was, like, well it had to be that guy.’
In a well-known scene from the movie, JD appears shirtless and this made George believe that Brad was the better pick for the role.
The two iconic actors most recently co-starred in the 2024 thriller Wolfs.
However, they have appeared together on a number of occasions in Ocean’s Eleven, Confessions of a Dangerous Mind, Ocean’s Twelve, Ocean’s Thirteen, and Burn After Reading.
Throughout the 1990s, the pair shot to fame for their series of iconic roles.
George starred in Batman & Robin as the legendary superhero, along with From Dusk till Dawn, Out of Sight and The Thin Red Line.
Meanwhile, Brad had major roles in Seven, Fight Club, Meet Joe Black, Seven Years in Tibet and Interview with the Vampire.
