WHO IS POST MALONE? EVERYTHING TO KNOW ABOUT NFL THANKSGIVING HALFTIME PERFORMER'S SONGS, LYRICS & MORE

Outside of the Super Bowl, few platforms rival the spotlight of a Dallas Cowboys halftime show at AT&T Stadium.

Each year, the Cowboys bring in a star artist for their Thanksgiving game, a holiday tradition that pairs perfectly with postgame Turkducken. Country music acts have often been favored in recent years, with Dolly Parton, Lainey Wilson, and Luke Combs taking the stage.

This year, a rapper-turned-pop-artist-turned-country singer - and a devoted Cowboys fan - will headline the halftime show for the 2025 matchup against the Kansas City Chiefs. While many fans may recognize Post Malone, there's a lot more to know about the performer.

Here's a full look at Post Malone's background, including some of his top songs, ahead of his Thanksgiving performance against the Chiefs.

Who is Post Malone?

Post Malone, whose real name is Austin Richard Post, is an American singer, rapper, songwriter, and record producer. He is 30 years old, born on July 4, 1995. While he emerged as a rapper and hip-hop–based artist early in his career, Post Malone has grown more into a pop artist in recent years, with a more recent development in country music.

Born in Syracuse, New York, but raised in Texas after the age of 9, Post began his music career in 2011 and reached national fame by 2015 with his rap single "White Iverson," which gained attention on the platform SoundCloud and alludes to NBA Hall of Famer Allen Iverson. That song led him to sign with Republic Records and was also the lead single for his debut studio album, Stoney, in 2016.

Post has said that his stage name, Post Malone, is a combination of his last name and "Malone" coming from a "rap name generator," per VH1.

After the success of "White Iverson," Post Malone began working with other famous rappers and hip-hop artists, including 50 Cent, Young Thug and Kanye West. He released his first studio album, "Stoney," in 2016. At one point, Malone broke Michael Jackson's 34-year-old record for most weeks on Billboard's Top R&B/Hip-Hop Albums chart.

In 2018, Post Malone released his second album, "Beerbongs & Bentleys," and in 2019, he released his third in "Hollywood's Bleeding," both projects that were more pop-focused and ranked on the top of charts. "Hollywood's Bleeding" became his second album to receive a Grammy nomination for Album of the Year.

In 2022, Malone released his fourth album, "Twelve Carat Toothache. His fifth, "The Diamond Collection," came out in 2023, and his sixth, "F-1 Trillion," was released in 2024. Notably, "F-1 Trillion" was a move into country music for Malone, who worked with artists like Tim McGraw, Hank Williams Jr., Morgan Wallen, Blake Shelton and Dolly Parton. Specifically, the single "I Had Some Help" with Wallen found success.

Malone has over 150 million records sold in the US alone, and his awards include 11 Billboard Music Awards, five American Music Awards and six MTV Video Music Awards. However, despite 18 Grammy nominations, he has never won one of the awards.

Post Malone is also a well-known Cowboys fan. According to Slam, when his family moved to Dallas when he was 9 years old, his father eventually became the Cowboys' Assistant Director of Food and Beverage. Malone grew up a Cowboys fan, and he later moved to L.A. to pursue his music career.

The Thanksgiving performance won't be Post Malone's first at an NFL game, as he performed "America the Beautiful" at the Super Bowl LVIII.

[Verse 1: Post Malone]

You got a lotta nerve, don't you, baby?

I only hit the curb 'cause you made me

You're tellin' all your friends that I'm crazy

Like I'm the only one

Why'd you throw them stones if you

Had a wild hair of your own or two?

Livin' in your big glass house with a view

I thought you knew

[Chorus: Post Malone]

I had some help

It ain't like I can make this kinda mess all by myself

Don't act like you ain't help me pull that bottle off the shelf

Been deep in every weekend if you couldn't tell

They say, "Teamwork makes the dream work," hell, I had some help (Help)

[Post-Chorus: Post Malone]

(Help)

[Verse 2: Morgan Wallen]

You thought I'd take the blame for us a-crumbling

Go 'round like you ain't guilty of somethin'

Already lost the game that you been runnin'

Guess it's catchin' up to you, huh

You think that you're so innocent

After all the s--- you did

I ain't an angel, you ain't heaven-sent

Can't wash our hands of this

[Chorus: Morgan Wallen]

I had some help

It ain't like I can make this kinda mess all by myself

Don't act like you ain't help me pull that bottle off the shelf

Been deep in every weekend if you couldn't tell

They say, "Teamwork makes the dream work," hell, I had some help (Help)

[Post-Chorus: Post Malone]

(Help)

(Help)

(Help)

[Bridge: Morgan Wallen, Post Malone & Both]

It takes two to break a heart in two, ooh

Baby, you blame me and, baby, I blame you

Aw, if that ain't the truth (Oh)

[Chorus: Post Malone & Morgan Wallen]

I had some help

It ain't like I can make this kinda mess all by myself

Don't act like you ain't help me pull that bottle off the shelf

Been deep in every weekend if you couldn't tell

They say, "Teamwork makes the dream work," hell, I had some help (Help)

[Post-Chorus: Post Malone]

(Help)

I Ain't Coming Back, Morgan Wallen ft. Post Malone

That wasn't the only hit song between Wallen and Post Malone. In 2025, the two artists collaborated once again, this time a single for Wallen's album, "I'm the Problem."

Post Malone was featured on "I Ain't Coming Back," which reached the No. 8 spot on Billboard's chart. Again, Malone displayed his ability to make country music on the record.

[Verse 1: Morgan Wallen]

I'm a redneck

'Cause I drink beer and I dip Skoal

Guess I'm a rambler

'Cause I can't not be on the road

Might be a lost cause

'Cause I'll be out 'til the lights are on

And I'm a gambler

I'll take the over on the underdog, huh

[Pre-Chorus: Morgan Wallen]

Girl, half of this town has got a name for me

And I can't say I don't agree, huh

[Chorus: Morgan Wallen]

But the night I said, "I'm leavin'," I turned into Richard Petty

Broke my heart, so I got even in my '97 Chevy

Now I'm walkin' on this water mixed with Johnnie Walker Black

There's a lot of reasons I ain't Jesus, but the main one is that I ain't comin' back

Oh no, no, I ain't comin' back

[Verse 2: Post Malone]

You call me thе devil

Then you told me whеre to go

Go throw your pebbles

I'll be somewhere gettin' stoned

Girl, it ain't my fault

Ain't no need to wait three days

I might be a lot of things

But I ain't your savin' grace

[Chorus: Post Malone & Morgan Wallen]

Yeah, the night I said, "I'm leavin'," I turned into Richard Petty

Broke my heart, so I got even in my '97 Chevy

Now I'm walkin' on this water mixed with Johnnie Walker Black

There's a lot of reasons I ain't Jesus, but the main one is that I ain't comin' back

Oh no, no, I ain't comin' back

[Bridge: Morgan Wallen]

Girl, half of this town has got a name for me

But there's one I'll never be, no

[Chorus: Morgan Wallen & Post Malone]

'Cause the night I said, "I'm leavin'," I turned into Richard Petty

Broke my heart and I got even in my '97 Chevy

Now I'm walkin' on this water, mixed with Johnnie Walker Black

There's a lot of reasons I ain't Jesus, but the main one is that I ain't comin' back

Oh no, no, I ain't comin' back

[Outro: Morgan Wallen]

Oh

Fortnight, Taylor Swift ft. Post Malone

"Fortnight" was yet another hit song Malone recently collaborated with a star for. In 2024, he was featured on Taylor Swift's song for her album "The Tortured Poets Department." Coincidentally, Malone will be performing at halftime in Dallas when the Cowboys take on Swift's fiancee's team in Travis Kelce's Chiefs - perhaps Swift could be at the game, or even make a surprise appearance for "Fortnight."

The collaboration between Swift and Malone spent two weeks as Billboard's No. 1 song on the charts. It has over 1 billion Spotify streams.

[Verse 1: Taylor Swift]

I was supposed to be sent away

But they forgot to come and get me

I was a functioning alcoholic

'Til nobody noticed my new aesthetic

All of this to say I hope you're okay

But you're the reason

And no one here's to blame

But what about your quiet treason?

[Chorus: Taylor Swift]

And for a fortnight there, we were forever

Run into you sometimes, ask about the weather

Now you're in my backyard, turned into good neighbors

Your wife waters flowers, I wanna kill her

[Verse 2: Taylor Swift, Taylor Swift & Post Malone, Post Malone]

All my mornings are Mondays stuck in an endless February

I took the miracle move-on drug, the effects were temporary

And I love you, it's ruining my life

I love you, it's ruining my life

I touched you for only a fortnight

I touched you, but I touched you

[Chorus: Taylor Swift, Taylor Swift & Post Malone]

And for a fortnight there, we were forever

Run into you sometimes, ask about the weather

Now you're in my backyard, turned into good neighbors

Your wife waters flowers, I wanna kill her

And for a fortnight there, we were together

Run into you sometimes, comment on my sweater

Now you're at the mailbox, turned into good neighbors

My husband is cheating, I wanna kill him

[Bridge: Taylor Swift, Post Malone, Taylor Swift & Post Malone]

I love you, it's ruining my life

I love you, it's ruining my life

I touched you for only a fortnight

I touched you, I touched you

I love you, it's ruining my life

I love you, it's ruining my life

I touched you for only a fortnight

I touched you, I touched you

[Outro: Post Malone, Post Malone & Taylor Swift, Taylor Swift]

Thought of callin' ya, but you won't pick up

'Nother fortnight lost in America

Move to Florida, buy the car you want

But it won't start up 'til you touch, touch, touch me

Thought of calling ya, but you won't pick up

'Nother fortnight lost in America

Move to Florida, buy the car you want

But it won't start up 'til I touch, touch, touch you
