Prepare to have all of your heartstrings pulled by My Oxford Year, an adaptation of Julia Whelan‘s beloved romance novel of the same name. The film follows Anna (Sofia Carson), a young American who’s fulfilling one of her most ambitious dreams by studying at Oxford. There, she meets the charming and dashing Jamie (Queen Charlotte‘s Corey Mylchreest), changing both of their lives forever. August 1
Perfect Match Season 3
Some of the most recognizable faces from Netflix reality shows are back in the Perfect Match Season 3. Watch as former contestants from Love Is Blind, Too Hot Too Handle, The Circle and more come together to try and find their dream partner while facing off in a series of games. Plus, for the first time ever, stars from *outside* of the Netflix reality TV-verse—think people from The Bachelor and The Challenge—are joining in on the fun. August 1
Wednesday Season 2, Part 1
If it feels like it’s been forever since we all became obsessed with Wednesday, Netflix’s new take on The Addams Family made in collaboration with filmmaker Tim Burton, that’s because it kind of has been. Okay, it’s actually been more like three years, but still. Jenna Ortega is finally back in the goth-chic shoes and braids of the titular character. There are new mysteries to solve at Nevermore Academy and, this time around, Wednesday’s family will be in tow. Fans will have to practice a bit of patience because Wednesday Season 2 has been split into two parts (the second arrives in September). But it’s not all bad news: Lady Gaga will be appearing in Part 2 as the “mysterious and enigmatic” Rosaline Rotwood, a legendary Nevermore teacher. August 6
Night Always Comes
Vanessa Kirby may currently be tearing up the big screen in The Fantastic Four: First Steps, but you’ll soon also be able to watch the British actor in Night Always Comes. The movie is adapted from the best-selling novel by Willy Vlautin, and follows Kirby’s Lynette who is pushed to the point of extreme desperation when she discovers her family is at risk of losing their house. Over the course of one night, she’s forced to confront how far she’s willing to go—and what she’s willing to risk—in order to make sure that doesn’t happen. August 15
Hostage
I’m always looking for a British thriller that will deliver the same highs as 2018’s Bodyguard. Will Hostage be the one to do it? Let’s find out! The tense new series chronicles the events after the husband of the British Prime Minister at the same time as the visiting French president is being blackmailed, forcing them into risky rivalry when they should be working together. Suranne Jones, Julie Delpy and Corey Mylchreest star. August 21
Long Story Short
If you loved BoJack Horseman, you’re going to want to check out the latest animated series from creator Raphael Bob-Waksberg. Long Story Short tracks the Schwooper siblings through time, finding them at different points in childhood, adolescence and adulthood experiencing all the ups and downs that come with life. The voice cast includes stars like Lisa Edelstein, Paul Reiser, Ben Feldman, Abbi Jacobson, Max Greenfield, Nicole Byer and Dave Franco. August 22
My Life With the Walter Boys Season 2
If you’re watching The Summer I Turned Pretty and think you could use even more of an awkward love triangle involving two brothers, I’ve got great news for you: it’s heading your way. Teen dramedy My Life With the Walter Boys is finally returning for its second season, which means Jackie (Nikki Rodriguez) is back in small-town Silver Falls hoping for a fresh start after getting caught between brothers Cole (Noah LaLonde) and Alex (Ashby Gentry). Unfortunately for Jackie, that’s easier said than done. August 28
The Thursday Murder Club
English TV presenter Richard Osman also happens to be the author of the global bestselling book series The Thursday Murder Club. Now the charming murder-mystery series is making its way to Netflix with a star-studded cast that includes Helen Mirren, Pierce Brosnan, Ben Kingsley and Celia Imrie. The quartet play a group of retirees who, as you may have guessed, enjoy solving murders for fun. August 28
