Moulin Rouge! The Musical opened at the Al Hirschfield Theatre in 2019.

Based upon director Baz Luhrmann’s 2001 movie musical Moulin Rouge, the critically acclaimed show would go on to win a total of 10 2021 Tony Awards, including Best Musical. The production also picked up two Drama League Awards, five Drama Desk Awards and 10 Outer Critics Circle Award Honors.

Clearly, the dynamic presentation hit the right notes with critics and crowds.

The hit musical is being presented by Broadway Across Canada as part of the coming season, remixed with many of the movie’s iconic songs as well as recent hits that have been released since the film premiered 21 years ago. From Offenbach to Lady Gaga, this will appeal to all-ages.

Who is in the cast of Moulin Rouge! The Musical?

The current North American tour cast is led by Arianna Rosario as Satine, Jay Armstrong Johnson as Christian, and features Robert Petkoff as Harold Zidler, Andrew Brewer as The Duke of Monroth, Jahi Kearse as Toulouse-Lautrec, Danny Burgos as Santiago, Kaitlin Mesh as Nini, and Jerica Exum in the role of the Satine Alternate.

Moulin Rouge! The Musical is directed by and designed by an all-Tony Award winning crew directed by Alex Timbers with a book by John Logan, choreography by Sonya Tayeh, with music supervision, orchestrations and arrangements by Justin Levine. The design team includes Derek McLane on sets, Catherine Zuber on costumes, Justin Townsend on lighting, Peter Hylenski on sound, and Matt Stine as music producer. Drama Desk Award winner David Brian Brown handles wig and hair design, and Sarah Cimino is the make-up designer.
