8 OUT OF 10 CATS DOES COUNTDOWN NEW CAST REVEALED

Hit panel show 8 Out of 10 Cats Does Countdown returns to our screens tonight for a new series.

With a cast packed full of comedy stars, Jimmy Carr is back to host once more, alongside Countdown icon and puzzle connoisseur Rachel Riley.

Cats Does Countdown has been airing since 2012 as a crossover between the hugely popular 8 Out of 10 Cats and long-running Channel 4 quiz show Countdown.

In its early days, Jon Richardson and Sean Lock took on team captain roles. Following beloved comedian Lock’s death in 2021, his team has been led by a rotation of guest captains.

While Jon is still firmly occupying the captain’s seat for his team, when he’s unavailable, he is replaced by other stars. So, let’s see who will be joining Jimmy this evening…

Where to watch 8 Out of 10 Cats Does Countdown?

You can watch the first episode of 8 Out of 10 Cats Does Countdown’s 28th series on Channel 4 at 9pm tonight.

The episode will then be available on C4’s streaming service of the same name.

New episodes will air weekly in the same slot on Friday nights in the coming weeks.

Who’s in the 8 Out of 10 Cats Does Countdown cast?

Jimmy Carr has been hosting Cats Does Countdown for 13 years, while Rachel Riley and Susie Dent assume the same roles as they perform on Countdown—Rachel placing letter tiles on the board and offering solutions, and Susie in Dictionary Corner.

Tonight, they’ll be accompanied by:

Richard Ayoade

Comedian, writer, and actor Richard Ayoade is most famous for playing Maurice Moss in Channel 4 sitcom The IT Crowd, a role for which he won a Bafta in 2014.

Nowadays, he’s a frequent face on the panel show scene, with recurring appearances on The Big Fat Quiz of the Year, has hosted Have I Got News For You, and most recently took part in the hit Amazon Prime reality show Last One Laughing.

Harriet Dyer

Cornish comedian Harriet Dyer is also a writer and mental health campaigner.

Having gigged all over the world, she recently won the Channel 4 Sean Lock Comedy Award for 2024, which aims to highlight and celebrate the talent of new performers.

Harriet published her debut book, Bipolar Comedian, in 2020, selling it as a ‘funnier than it should be, honest tale of a bipolar, working-class girl from Cornwall who overcame an awful lot of trauma to become an award-winning comedian and mental health advocate’.

Tom Allen

English comedian and host Tom Allen is no stranger to our screens.

The 42-year-old got his big break in 2005 when he won the So You Think You’re Funny contest at the Edinburgh Festival Fringe.

These days, he’s part of the furniture on some of your fave panel shows, has hosted on Bake Off, and was a huge part of the BBC’s programming to celebrate the 10th anniversary of same-sex marriage being legalised.

Bob Mortimer

Much like Tom, Bob Mortimer is a comedy panel show king – his Would I Lie to You? tales have reached viral fame status, and fans were gutted to learn he wasn’t part of the Celebrity Traitors lineup after much speculation.

Bob, 66, has starred on the likes of Taskmaster and Last One Laughing.

And when he’s not doing his own dentistry, he is one half of the double act Reeves and Mortimer with Vic Reeves, and appears in Mortimer & Whitehouse: Gone Fishing with Paul Whitehouse.

Watch 8 Out of 10 Cats Does Countdown tonight at 9pm on Channel 4.
