MILEY CYRUS AND MAXX MORANDO ANNOUNCE ENGAGEMENT

Miley Cyrus has confirmed she is engaged to her boyfriend, Maxx Morando, after four years together.

The couple were snapped at the Avatar: Fire and Ash world premiere in Los Angeles on Monday, looking gorgeous and incredibly loved up.

Good looks aside, fans couldn’t help but notice that Miley was sporting a new piece of hardware with a huge gold diamond ring on her left ring finger.

The Flowers singer, 33, proudly showed off her hand as she and Maxx, 27, posed for photos together on the red carpet.

Immediately, speculation began circling that the pair were privately engaged, and the US star has now confirmed to People that she is indeed set to tie the knot.

Omitting details of the proposal, Miley shared: ‘The detail that I can share is that for us, our privacy and us kind of keeping it small has been something that I’ve been astounded that I’ve actually been able to have and being able to kind of have more choice.’

The Hannah Montana star added: ‘I think it’s also being older, being more protective of what I’m open to sharing.’ 

In a press conference attended by Hello! Miley was asked about her engagement and replied that her relationship with Maxx ‘is about starting again’ and rebuilding her life.

She added that she had ‘the consciousness of a more grown and adult person of what I want this time around.’

Some outlets claim that Miley has been seen wearing the ring since mid-November.

Max’s father also shared a selection of images of the couple on social media.

The caption said ‘Congratulations’ with a champagne emoji, a ring emoji, and a close up image of Miley’s finger while at her 33rd birthday dinner. Miley and Maxx were also tagged in the post.

The couple appeared to first get together in December 2021, when they were photographed looking cosy at the NBC holiday special, Miley’s New Year’s Eve Party, in Miami.

In April 2022, they were snapped passionately kissing in West Hollywood, and in 2023, Miley addressed the relationship for the first time in an interview with British Vogue.

‘We got put on a blind date,’ she said, revealing how they met. ‘Well, it was blind for me and not really for him.’

In 2024, she spoke to Harper’s Bazaar about their six-year age gap, commenting that he sees life differently from her.

‘He looks at life really differently than I do,’ she said. ‘He grew up with a laptop. I had a desktop computer that I shared with my brothers and sisters. … Honestly, he’s raised our dog off Reddit. I’m like, “Are you sure we’re supposed to be doing this?” And he’s like, “On Reddit it says blah, blah, blah.”‘

Who is Maxx Morando, and how old is he?

Maxx is a 27-year-old singer who is the drummer in the band, Liily.

Liily is a Los Angeles-based alternative rock band formed in 2016, which is a spin-off of The Regrettes.

In 2022, the group participated in Miley’s New Year’s Eve Party. Current members include: Dylan Nash, Sam De La Torre, and Charlie Anastasis.

Miley’s previous relationships

Miley was famously in a long-term relationship with Liam Hemsworth after the pair met on the 2010 film, The Last Song.

The couple dated from 2009 until 2012, when, after three years of being on-and-off again, they announced their engagement.

They ended their engagement in 2013, only to confirm they were once again engaged in 2016.

The couple eventually married in 2018, but split in 2019, with their divorce finalised in 2020. Hemsworth filed for divorce, citing irreconcilable differences.

Liam has been with Australian model Gabriella Brooks since his split from Miley.

In September 2025, the pair revealed on social media that they were engaged to be married.
